AutoRoom is easy to get started with!
Invite the AutoRoom app #
First step is to invite AutoRoom to your server. You can do that by clicking this link . Once logged in, Discord will ask what server you want AutoRoom to join. You must have the Manage Server permission in the server you want to add AutoRoom to.
Once a server is chosen, Discord will ask which permissions you want to grant. It’s best to keep these all enabled, as they are all needed for AutoRoom to function properly. I wrote AutoRoom to use as few permissions as possible, which is why the list is short compared to others.
Create an AutoRoom Source #
Now that the AutoRoom app is in your server, it’s time to set up an AutoRoom Source. An AutoRoom Source is a voice channel that a member can join in order to create a new AutoRoom for themselves.
To set up an AutoRoom Source, you will need a source voice channel and a destination category. Create those, and then use the /create command to create an AutoRoom Source using the source and destination. The last argument is for the default AutoRoom access, and can be one of these options:
Open- The created AutoRoom is visible and allows anyone to joinLocked- The created AutoRoom is visible, but doesn’t allow anyone to joinHidden- The created AutoRoom is not visible, and doesn’t allow anyone to join (only available to premium servers )
The access option chosen is the default for newly created AutoRooms from this AutoRoom Source, but the user can change their AutoRooms access setting at any time.
That’s it! #
Now you have an AutoRoom Source! Try it out by joining the AutoRoom Source. You should see a new AutoRoom created in the destination category, and then be moved into that new AutoRoom. Once you disconnect, it will disappear!
